International Laboratory of Game Theory and Decision Making invites you to take part in the research seminar by Andries Joseph Vermeulen (Professor of the Department of Quantitative Economics, School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University, The Netherlands)

Language of instruction: English
Time: June 21st, 2018 (Thursday) from 16.50 till 18.10
Place: 3A Kantemirovskaya st., room 356

Guest Speaker: Andries Joseph Vermeulen

Topic: On the topology of the set of Nash equilibria (joint work with Dieter Balkenborg)

Abstract: It has been an open conjecture in the theory of non-cooperative games that Nash equilibrium is universal for the collection of (non-empty) compact semi-algebraic sets, meaning that for every such set there is a game whose set of Nash equilibria is homeomorphic to the given set. In this paper we prove this conjecture.
